The 24th International Festival of Raleigh was held this year on October 2-4, 2009
(Friday to Saturday) at the Raleigh Convention Center. Festival hours are:
Friday, October 2: 12 noon – 10 pm
Saturday, October 3: 10 am to 10 pm
Sunday, October 4: 12 noon to 6 pm
Our Association lined up this year an extraordinary program:
• Cultural Booth: our traditional way of informing the public about Ukrainian culture
• Sidewalk Café: sale of traditional Ukrainian food
• Ukrainian Dancers: the “Lyman” dancers from Baltimore are back at the special
request of the Festival organizers. They had two performances:
Saturday: 7:30 – 8:15 pm
Sunday: 12:30 – 1:15 pm
• World Bazaar (first time): Susan and John Washinsky, owners of the only
Ukrainian crafts store in North Carolina “All Things Ukrainian”, sold a variety of
Ukrainian crafts
• Demonstration (first time): our member and renown artist Olena Zintchouk, had
a demonstration of the unique folk art style developed in the Ukrainian village of Petrykivka
